Portofolio

My curatorial practice unfolds through exhibitions, public programs, and collaborative initiatives that connect contemporary art with education and community engagement. The selected projects presented here reflect an ongoing exploration of how art can function as a shared space where children, artists, and communities actively participate in shaping cultural experiences. Each project is developed through a process that prioritizes accessibility, dialogue, and care, positioning curating as both a creative and socially engaged practice.

In 2018, I curated an exhibition within Lazada Warehouse Festival (WAW Fast) in Jakarta, situating contemporary art within a commercial and logistics-driven environment. The project examined the entanglement between artistic production, consumer culture, and digital economies by bringing together artists, brands, and a corporate platform. Rather than treating the site as a neutral venue, the exhibition engaged the warehouse as a critical context foregrounding circulation, visibility, and commodification as integral to the experience of art. By intervening in a high-traffic commercial space, the project sought to disrupt conventional modes of spectatorship and expand curatorial practice into hybrid, publicly accessible contexts.

L-Project (Linda Gallery), 2019 Internasional Online Exhibition

L-Project (Linda Gallery) is an international online exhibition platform that invites curators to develop and present their own curated selections within a dedicated digital page. The project expands curatorial practice into a virtual context, enabling independent curatorial voices to engage with global audiences beyond physical limitations. By providing autonomy in curatorial direction, L-Project encourages diverse perspectives and experimental approaches to exhibition-making. Through this platform, I curated a selection of works that reflects my interest in participatory and socially engaged practices, exploring how digital space can function as an accessible site for dialogue, exchange, and expanded modes of audience interaction.

In 2022, I participated in a curatorial response program with Goethe-Institut, culminating in a workshop and exhibition at Soemardja Gallery, Bandung. Through my curatorial essay Art of Diplomacy, I explored how artistic practices operate within socio-political frameworks, functioning as cultural, ideological, and communicative tools. The exhibition engaged archival materials and contemporary perspectives to position art as a medium that constructs shared experiences, fosters dialogue, and reflects the institutional and social dynamics embedded within international relations.

Group Exhibition, “Genealogi”, Nuart Sculpture Park, 2026 Bandung

“Genealogi” is a group exhibition featuring Indonesian women artists, examining artistic practice as a layered and evolving field shaped by personal memory, social relations, and cultural conditions. Rather than presenting a fixed lineage, the exhibition approaches genealogy as a dynamic process through which meanings and representations are continuously negotiated. Through diverse mediums, the works position the body, domestic space, and organic materials as sites of experience, resilience, and transformation. Engaging with historical references while resisting singular narratives, “Genealogi” proposes a re-reading of women’s contributions to Indonesian art as fluid, interconnected, and continuously redefined within contemporary practice.

“(Un) Garden” by Elma Lucyana repositions flowers from symbols of ideal beauty into metaphors of transformation and imperfection. Drawing from her dual practice as artist and floral decorator, Elma presents flowers as living bodies that undergo fatigue, decay, and asymmetry. Through large-scale installations using textile and mixed media, she foregrounds process, materiality, and traces of handcraft as essential to meaning. The inclusion of rare plants reflects on scarcity and sustainability. Rather than an idealized garden, “(Un) Garden” offers a conceptual space where growth unfolds beyond perfection, inviting reflection on resilience, fragility, and becoming.

Exhibition Ceramic dan Sculpture Artist "Playing with Shapes, Playing with Colors, Same Medium", LQID 2025 Jakarta

Clay and sculptural mass intersect as sites of expression, where humor, tactility, and visual curiosity emerge. Rather than emphasizing difference, the exhibition highlights convergence, inviting audiences to experience art as a collective, dynamic, and accessible encounter rooted in play.

Artistik Director

As Artistic Director, I shape the overall vision and direction of projects, working closely with artists, collaborators, and communities. I focus on creating inclusive and engaging experiences that connect art with wider audiences, especially through participatory and educational approaches.

“Hulu Ke Hilir Ekosistem Batik” (2023), presented at Museum Batik in Jakarta, explores the interconnected ecosystem of batik from material production to cultural circulation. As Artistic Director, I developed the exhibition’s visual and spatial approach to highlight batik not only as a textile tradition, but also as a living cultural practice shaped by artisans, communities, industry, and contemporary audiences. Through installations, educational elements, and diverse visual presentations, the exhibition invited visitors to understand the journey of batik across social, economic, and artistic contexts, positioning heritage as an evolving and participatory cultural experience.

“Nila: Warisan Alam Untuk Batik Indonesia” (2024), presented at Museum Batik in Jakarta, explores indigo (nila) as both a natural resource and an important cultural element within the history of Indonesian batik. As Artistic Director, I developed the exhibition’s visual narrative and spatial experience to highlight the relationship between ecology, traditional knowledge, and textile heritage. Through educational displays, material exploration, and immersive presentation strategies, the exhibition invited audiences to understand the process and significance of natural dyes in batik practices. The project positioned batik heritage within broader conversations surrounding sustainability, cultural continuity, and environmental awareness..

AGrow Without Fear” (2025), presented by Kids Biennale Indonesia at Galeri Nasional Indonesia in Jakarta, was developed through a child-centered artistic approach that prioritized accessibility, safety, and participation. As Artistic Director, I designed the exhibition display at lower viewing heights to encourage direct engagement for children and young audiences. The exhibition environment also integrated ethical participation protocols, including consent forms for photography and documentation involving children and teenagers. These considerations positioned the exhibition not only as a visual experience, but as a safe and inclusive cultural space where young audiences could actively encounter contemporary art with comfort and agency.

Program

As part of the public program team for Jakarta Biennale 2021–2022, I contributed to the development and coordination of “Esok,” a program that explored collective reflections on future imaginaries through contemporary art and public engagement. The program created spaces for dialogue, learning, and participation by connecting artists, communities, and audiences across interdisciplinary activities. Working within the framework of Jakarta Biennale, my role focused on supporting inclusive audience engagement and facilitating accessible cultural experiences. “Esok” positioned public programming as an active curatorial extension, encouraging audiences to critically reflect on social, environmental, and cultural futures through collaborative encounters.

“Making Batik for Deaf Children” is an educational program developed in collaboration with Museum Batik, introducing batik-making practices to deaf children through inclusive and participatory learning approaches. The program created an accessible environment where participants engaged directly with traditional batik techniques, material exploration, and creative expression beyond verbal communication. By emphasizing visual instruction, tactile experience, and collaborative interaction, the initiative encouraged confidence, creativity, and cultural connection among participants. More than a technical workshop, the program positioned batik as a shared learning experience, highlighting the importance of accessibility and equal participation within art education and cultural heritage practices.
